US Border Patrol Range Restoration

ADVENT was contracted to investigate methods for renovating a small arms training range at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. ADVENT conducted soil analysis to determine if lead contamination was present. In addition, a feasibility study was performed to determine the most effective and efficient way to restore the range and remove contamination. The study resulted in soil removal and the recycling of portions of the lead. In order to restore the function of the range, the soil berm was replaced with granulated rubber bullet containment. This solution prevented erosion and made possible capture of the lead ammunitions associated with future use of the facility.

Walterboro Cistern Removal

ADVENT was contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District to execute the abandonment of two vaults and two cisterns at the former Walterboro Army Airfield in Colleton County, SC. Materials inside the facilities and surrounding soils were sampled and analyzed in accordance with SC DHEC regulations. Liquids were removed, and the facilities were demolished and filled with clean fill dirt. The area was graded to promote proper storm water runoff.
